100% Direct Contact Trained Pack Award

We want the Pack to earn the 100% Direct Contact Trained Award. Please give Paul Hubert, Pack Trainer, a list of training you have accomplished so he can keep track of our status. To qualify, all leaders (Den Leaders, Cubmasters and Committee Chair) should be trained in their specific position. This includes four courses. Three of the courses are online and one is done in a classroom. Click here for the training continuum chart. Training Continuum

Online Leader Training

Visit the BSA training page here to take the online courses and print out your certificates. The online courses are Fast Start, Youth Protection and This is Scouting.

Leader Online Training

Youth Protection is required every 2 years.

Youth safety is the No. 1 concern of the BSA. To increase awareness of this societal problem and to create even greater barriers to abuse than already exist today in Scouting, the Boy Scouts of America is implementing several important changes to further enhance its Youth Protection policies: Effective June 1, 2010:

  • Youth Protection Training is required for all registered volunteers.
  • New leaders are required to take Youth Protection Training before they submit their application for registration. The certificate of completion for this training must be submitted at the time application is made and before volunteer service with youth begins.
  • Youth Protection Training must be taken every two years. If a volunteer's Youth Protection Training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be reregistered.

The Leader Specific Training is done in a classroom setting usually locally in Jacksonville. The next Leader Specific Training class is on October 3 or October 10, 2009. Click here for info or visit the calendar.

By being trained, and attending 4 round tables you can earn a knot for your uniform. You may not want it now but after years of service you may change your mind.
